THE PROBLEM
The Knowledge Society (TKS), a Canadian Ed-Tech company, found itself rapidly outgrowing their internal student platform, which had little maintenance and accumulated plenty technical debt.
They realised it was limiting both their ambitions and their ability to open a new revenue stream by licensing the platforms to other schools who were interested.
Sticking with the old system meant:
No ability to license the platform to competitors (inability to whitelabel their software), and missing out on opportunities for new revenue
Increasing bugs and struggles to fix said bugs
Risking reduced student engagement and poorer program experience, undercutting TKS’s mission

Multi-Tenant Platform
the solution
Recognizing these hurdles, TKS decided to rebuild. We collaborated with them to design a multi-tenant platform from the ground up. By incorporating strategic advisory, full-stack development, and a feedback-driven approach, the new platform offered room to grow and the possibility of licensing to other institutions.
As a result of the rebuild, TKS:
Launched a modern, feature-rich platform that went beyond its old capabilities
Set the stage for new revenue streams by licensing their system
Created a smoother, more engaging experience for students in their program
